ROAD TO SCOTLAND CONCERT – ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY
Sunday, 19 July | 1:00pm
In just 10 days after this concert, more than 60 members of the Governor Macquarie Memorial Pipe Band will depart Australia to commence their 16 day tour culminating in competing at the prestigious World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
This has been over 18 months in the making, with players travelling from New Zealand, Adelaide, Cairns, the Sunshine Coast, Victoria, Mudgee, Newcastle and throughout NSW to join forces with GMM in pursuit of pipe band glory on the world stage, representing our area, the state and country.
Competing in both Grade 3B and Grade 4B, our musicians have spent the last 12 months rehearsing, refining and preparing for the biggest event in the international pipe band calendar. This concert is your opportunity to hear the 2026 Scotland Team live before they leave Australia.
Joining the band for this spectacular afternoon will be:
Douglas McFarland's "Down Under The Kilt" Highland Dancers
Scottish Singing Sensation Mary Kiani
Music • Dance • Song • Tradition • Entertainment
While members have personally funded their own airfares and accommodation, the band continues to raise funds for the enormous costs of transporting nearly 90 people around Scotland, including buses, contest expenses and drum freight These costs exceed $55,000.00.
Pipe bands have been part of Australian life for more than 200 years, performing at ANZAC Day services, community events, weddings, funerals and celebrations across the nation. GMM proudly continues that tradition while developing the next generation of pipers and drummers through one of Australia's most successful teaching programs.
If you've never experienced a championship pipe band live, this is your chance.
One performance only.
One afternoon.
One team heading to Scotland.
Don't miss it!
